Maps are fascinating, and special ones make unique gifts.  Here are two you can look at for hours:

World Time Clocks

World Time Clocks tell you the time in a number of locations around the world.   They make great gifts for men, or for your boss, or a collegue transfered to work in some far-away place.  All clocks here are quartz (battery powered).

This Seiko Brass clock has a World Time Bezel with 24 time zones.  Very elegant, it stands about 5″ tall and comes with the AA battery needed to power it.

Seiko World Time Clock

This Seiko beauty with wooden base has an automatic world time dial with 25 time zones, sweep second hand, curved glass crystal and includes a brass engraving plate (we can engrave it on site for you).    Stand a little over 11″ tall.  Quartz, includes AA battery.

This one is called QUEST, from Bulova, an old name in clocks.  It has a brass finished metal case and in addition to world time in major global cities, has thermometer (C and F) and hygrometer (measures humidity).  It comes with an engraving plate (Ann can engrave this for you, see Engraving post.)  Stands about 8″ tall.

This is the one he’ll love to play with: Seiko Desk Clock World Time.  It sets itself automatically from radio waves!  Just touch the panel to get the time and date in 47 global locations. Dual alarm, thermometer, hygrometer, calendar with multi-language display options, and choose 12 or 24 hour display mode.   2 AA batteries included to power it.  Stands about 5.5 inches tall.

These are a different take on world time:  the jeweled globes have 3 clocks and a thermometer set in the base.  They stand about 8″ high.

New Old Maps

Ann’s doesn’t sell antiques, but we do find new gifts that look old, done well for modern times!  These maps in triptych form are a great example.  Interesting detail of famous sites are printed on 3 panels, a modern triptych, that you can hang anywhere you like.   Travel to Venice, London’s Piccadilly Circus, and Paris to see Arc du Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower.   They are $149.50 for each set and show a view of the world through the eyes of a different era.   New, now, at Ann’s Fine Gifts.

See the World

Globes and maps are fascinating!   Do you know someone who is difficult to surprise with a gift?  This is one answer that always pleases.

Let’s look at Ann’s Gemstone globes.  Each globe has 25 Grade A semi-precious gemstones.  The oceans are crushed gemstones.  Globes are lacquered with 10 coats for a glossy finish.  Stands are electroplated in real gold and lacquered so they won’t tarnish.    Choose a globe with a stand that sits on a table; some globes are floor standing, others make bookends.
