Caithness Paperweights: Balloon Race
Crazy, Colorful Clocks
Caithness Arctic Violets
Cool off just thinking about these Arctic Violets. Delicate blooms are captured in ocean blue faceted glass with a hint of ice in frosty white bubbles. Caithness Paperweight from Perth, Scotland, collectible and exquisite. (See more Caithness here.)
Come see Ann’s extensive, museum quality collection, many signed by Colin Terris and other Caithness master glass artisans.
Mantle Clocks
Mantle clocks are chiming clocks that sit on a shelf or mantle. All of these are quartz powered (battery operated). They come with a variety of features: chimes, strikes, some with tune selection, some with auto night shut off (clock is silent at night without having to be stopped) and volume control. These are traditionally “heirloom” gifts, meaning you pass them down within the family. They make wonderful wedding and anniversary gifts. Here are a few examples of the mantle clocks at Ann’s:
4/4 Westminster Chime means the clock chimes every quarter hour: 15 minutes, it plays the first quarter of the song; 30 minutes, plays half the song, 45 minutes, 3/4 of the song, on the hour, the whole piece. Then it strikes the hour.
The carriage clock style got its name from being taken out in the carriage. Once upon a time, only the rich had clocks. A servant carried the clock by its handle with the family when they went out in the carriage (so everyone else would appreciate and admire their social standing).
Mantle clocks can be simple or intricate. This one has lovely detail and a pendulum:
Here’s an unusual mantle clock. Instead of chiming and striking, it keeps the date! The bottom dial counts the days. (Low tech makes an interesting counterpoint to your I Phone!) Front door opens; interesting head piece.
These are only a few of the mantle clocks Ann’s offers. Please come in to see many more and to have us demonstrate their features for you.
Striking and Chiming Wall Clocks
If you love the look of “antique” clocks, with their mesmerizing pendulums and beautiful chimes on the hour, quarter hour and half hour, you will like these wall clocks. They are quartz-powered (battery operated, so you don’t have to remember to wind it!) and have many convenient features, such as automatic night shut off and a selection of chimes (such as Westminster, Whittington and others). For example:
We have many styles in a range of prices. Come see our clocks…each one has a story. One would be perfect for your home!
Fresh and fragrant
When temperature and humidity go up, it’s nice to freshen the air of your home with Ann’s Lampe Berger fragrances. Lampe Berger actually removes odors from the air in your home and leaves it smelling of the fragrance you like best. Keep one at the lake house to freshen it after being shut up between visits. Burn it after cooking to remove cooking odors. For more details and a fragrance list, click here. When you visit Ann’s, you can try our samplers to “test” the fragrance before you buy it. We have a large supply of every fragrance available, and have stock in many discontinued fragrances.
Some of Ann’s favorite fragrances include Fresh Eucalyptus. Clean and light, it also soothes when you have sinus congestion.
Take a sea-side vacation without leaving home: burn “Sea Mist” in your Lampe Berger Fragrance lampe.
